Two people from Grande Prairie, Alta., are facing charges in Saskatoon in connection with a string of break-ins and stolen vehicles.
In a media release Monday, the Saskatoon Police Service said some of its officers and members of the Saskatoon RCMP were involved in the investigation.
Just before 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, Saskatoon Mounties responded to a break-and-enter and assault in Grasswood. A Toyota 4Runner had been stolen and was seen entering Saskatoon.
Shortly afterwards, Saskatoon police received a report of a robbery in which a man and woman stole the caller’s Hyundai Elantra.
RCMP officers found the Hyundai abandoned in a back alley around Taylor Street and Victoria Avenue. An SPS canine unit initiated a track from the car and six break-ins had been committed within a five-block radius.
The suspects were located and arrested in separate backyards in the 300 block of Fifth Street East.
A 28-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman are charged with six counts each of break and enter and robbery. The man also is charged with possession of methamphetamine and breach of court orders.
