CurlSask has announced the teams skipped by Matt Dunstone and Sherry Anderson will be its representatives at the national competitions in 2021.
The organization announced Thursday that due to changes made to the teams of the two 2020 representatives (Dunstone’s team had three returning members while Robyn Silvernagle’s team only had two), a two-year point system was used.
CurlSask said that includes season end points from last season (2019-20) and points earned from the 2020-21 partial season calculated using the existing CTRS formula.
The points were also calculated based on the current registered lineups of each team. Each team and/or individual contributed their own value based on past performance.
CurlSask said it had proposed a provincial final bubble but it was rejected by the province on Jan. 13.
Team Dunstone will consist of Dunstone, third Braeden Moskowy, second Kirk Muyres and lead Dustin Kidby. They’ll try to win a Tim Hortons Brier title for Saskatchewan.
Team Anderson will see Anderson at skip, Nancy Martin at third, Chaelynn Kitz at second and Breanne Knapp at lead during the 2021 Scotties Tournament of Hearts.
The team of Mark Armstrong and Ashley Quick will return as Saskatchewan’s representatives in the mixed doubles division.
The 2021 Scotties Tournament of Hearts is to take place in the Calgary curling bubble Feb. 19-28. The 2021 Tim Hortons Brier will also take place in the bubble March 5-14.
