RCMP searching for 2 suspects after stabbing on Sturgeon Lake First Nation

Police are looking for two suspects after a man was stabbed at a home on the Sturgeon Lake First Nation, north of Prince Albert Wednesday afternoon.

In a media release, Prince Albert RCMP said they attended the residence along with members of the Prince Albert Crime Reduction Team and RCMP Police Dog Services.

The initial investigation indicates a 39-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman first arrived at the home in a white Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The man entered the home and assaulted the victim while the female waited in the vehicle.

After the assault, the male suspect stole the victim’s vehicle — a white Chevrolet Impala with Saskatchewan plate 568 LNW. He fled the scene. The woman followed in the Monte Carlo.

The victim was taken to Saskatoon hospital by air ambulance for serious but non-life threatening injuries. He was released from hospital Thursday.

The male suspect was identified as Welsey Naytowhow. He is 5 foot 8, 140 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes.

Naytowhow faces several charges including theft of motor vehicle, break and enter into a residence to commit an indictable offence, robbery, aggravated assault, and uttering death threats.

The female suspect was identified as Ashley Badger. She is 5-5 tall, weighs 165 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes.

Badger is facing charges including theft of a motor vehicle, break and enter to commit an indictable offence, robbery, and failure to comply to release order.

Officers are now searching for Naytowhow and Badger. Members conducted several neighbourhood checks and rural road patrols on both the Sturgeon Lake First Nation and Little Red River First Nation. Both are known to frequent those locations.
