Two more Canadian pieces of the puzzle have been added by the Saskatchewan Roughriders for 2021.
Safety Mike Edem and long-snapper Jorgen Hus have signed one-year contract extensions. Both were set to hit free agency on Feb. 9.
Edem, the Montreal Alouettes’ first-round pick (third overall) in the 2013 CFL draft, was traded from the B.C. Lions to the Roughriders in 2017. The 31-year-old started every game for the Riders in 2019, recording 69 tackles and three sacks.
Hus has played in 81 games for the Roughriders during his five seasons with the team.
The 31-year-old from Saskatoon was originally taken in the 2013 draft by the Edmonton Eskimos but didn’t sign with a CFL team until joining the Riders in 2015. He has also had stints with the NFL’s St. Louis Rams, Seattle Seahawks and Kansas City Chiefs.
