The Saskatchewan Roughriders have announced their first player personnel moves as they prepare for a 2021 season.
The CFL team said Tuesday it had re-signed offensive lineman Braden Schram and receiver Max Zimmermann.
Schram, a product of Manning, Alta., joined the Roughriders in 2018. He played at the University of Calgary and was taken 13th overall by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the 2017 CFL draft.
He dressed for 10 games with the Riders in 2019.
Schram could make a push for a starting job with the Roughriders in 2021, with Dakoda Shepley opting out of his contract to join the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers.
Zimmermann, who is from Germany, was taken by the Riders sixth overall in the 2019 global draft. Zimmermann won the Finnish Football Championship — the Maple Bowl — with the Kuopio Steelers in 2020.
The Roughriders also announced American defensive linemen Demetrius Harris and Cory Thomas have opted back into their contracts for 2021.
