The Saskatoon Police Service is warning residents about a text message scam that involves parcels.
According to police, people have been receiving text messages saying they had a parcel waiting to be picked up, but payment was required before the package could be collected.
When the recipients clicked a link in the text message, they were taken through a series of steps and then asked for their credit card information.
At the top of the message, a logo that looks like UPS actually is for IPS.
The police reminded residents that parcel delivery services do not make contact via text messages to ask for more money.
As well, the police warned people not to click on links in text messages or e-mails that have come from unknown sources/senders and not to give out personal information or credit card information.
