There will be a new face representing city council in Ward 3. David Kirton, the former long-time host of Saskatchewan Afternoon on 650 CKOM won his bid for a seat on city council in Friday’s civic election.
The door became open for a new city councillor when Ann Iwanchuk announced she would not be running again in 2020.
Ward 1
Incumbent Candidate Darren Hill won a very tight race against his closest competitor Kevin Boychuk. When all the ballots were counted Hill won by less than 100 votes, 1639 to 1583.
Ward 2
Incumbent Hilary Gough beat Rose Kasleder, 2599 votes to 1300.
Ward 3
David Kirton beat seven other candidates to take the race, with his closest competitor being Nick Sackville. Kirton won 1103 to 869.

Ward 5
Incumbent Randy Donauer beat Paul Miazga, 5402 votes to 2114.
Ward 6
Cynthia Block handily beat the two other candidates with 5004 votes. Her closest competition was Jon Naylor with 1525 votes.
Ward 7
Mairin Loewen is re-elected with 3356 votes. Second in the race was Jim Rhode with 1775.
Ward 8
Sarina Gersher won with 3307 votes, the next closest candidate was Brian Shalovelo with 2251.
Ward 9
Bev Dubois was re-elected with 3637 votes over Carla Shabaga who had 2230 votes.
Ward 10
Zach Jeffries won handily with 4398 votes, second in the race was AJ Itterman with 1135.
