Snow is on the ground in many parts of Saskatchewan.
It wasn’t a significant dump, but quite a few areas saw around a half-inch fall overnight Saturday.
Mike Russo, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, said it likely won’t stick around for long.
“We do have some milder temperatures heading our way… It should be enough to get rid of any snow on the ground (this week),” he explained.
In Regina, a high of 7 degrees is forecast for Tuesday. It’s supposed to be 6 degrees in Saskatoon that same day, temperatures that Russo said are more than warm enough to melt the snow.
This is in contrast to a chilly couple of weeks so far in October, especially in the southwest corner of the province.
“Val Marie seems to be a Mecca for cold overnight lows, situated in a bit of a valley there. They got down to about -27 degrees earlier this week,” he said.
The weather system bringing these seasonally unusual cold temperatures should move west to Alberta this week.
