The parents of Megan Gallagher are appealing to the public to help bring home their daughter.
September 18th marks one month since Brian and Debbie last saw her. The following day the 30-year-old mother was seen leaving a friend’s house on Lloyd Crescent in the Pacific Heights neighbourhood at around 2:30 p.m.
Brian and Debbie say it is unlike Megan to vanish without a trace.
“Especially not to be on social media. She used social media a lot. She is usually in touch with someone,” said her father Brian Gallagher.
“She never misses family functions. Birthday parties or Thanksgivings. It is totally out of character,” Debbie added.
Family and friends have been canvassing neighbourhoods and hanging posters, but their efforts have yet to drum up any real leads on her whereabouts.
The group involved with Missing Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls have contacted the family and is also looking into a billboard campaign for Megan.
“The response from her friends and family has been overwhelming. It’s hard to imagine the amount of hours that people have put into looking for. I think that speaks to Megan’s character. She was so well-loved,” said Brian.
Megan, who split her school years between Saskatoon, Île-à-la-Crosse and Cumberland House had just finished her training to be a cook and has a daughter turning three in December.
Her parents said to not have her around the Thanksgiving table this year was hard on the family which is coping the best they can as they try to make sense of her disappearance.
“It’s been extremely hard to live with this. There is just something missing in your life,” said Brian. There is definitely a big hole in our family and we sure miss her.”
Megan is described as being 5-foot-10, weighing 180 pounds, with shoulder-length brown hair and brown eyes.
She has a half sleeve tattoo with a large owl from shoulder to elbow, a cross tattoo behind her ear, a rainbow coloured feather on her ankle, the names “Jake” and “Adam” beneath her arm and the number 13 on her hand.
In a statement to 650 CKOM, the Saskatoon police say they are working with the family to try to find Megan.
“The Saskatoon Police Service is actively searching for Megan Gallagher. We believe that Megan may be in a vulnerable state and we are asking the public to notify us of any information they may have in regard to this investigation. Our investigators are working closely with members of Megan’s family as we conduct this investigation.”
