A 16-year-old boy is facing several charges after he was found in possession of a loaded gun during a traffic stop Friday night.
In a release, police say at around 9:30 p.m., with the assistance of Patrol, members of the Guns and Gangs Unit conducted a traffic stop at 22nd Street and Hart Road.
The front passenger was found to be hiding a loaded, sawed-off rifle in his pants and was taken into custody.
The 16-year-old is charged with careless use of a firearm, possession of a dangerous weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, unauthorized possession in a motor vehicle, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, tampering with a serial number, prohibited possession of a firearm and possession of Benzodiazepine.
He was also arrested on outstanding warrants.
In a separate incident, a 25-year-old man is facing 17 firearm-related offences after police found drugs and weapons in a vehicle Saturday morning.
At around 7 a.m., Patrol officers saw the vehicle of a wanted person parked at a gas station in the 800 block of 22nd Street West.
Police observed the male suspect leave the store.
He was arrested near his vehicle without incident. Police saw what was believed to be cocaine in plain view inside of the vehicle.
A duffel bag was also found inside, containing two firearms and various types of ammunition.
The 25-year-old man is also charged with possession of cocaine and breach of release.
