A 31-year-old Saskatoon man is facing child pornography charges after an investigation by the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit.
In a media release Tuesday, police said the investigation began in May after officers learned a person was using multiple online accounts to share child pornography on a social media chat app.
On July 9 members of the ICE Unit executed a search warrant at a home in Saskatoon. They didn’t find child pornography at that location, but a cellphone was seized for further analysis. That found evidence of the offences.
On Monday, officers arrested Brandon Crowe and charged him with three counts of possession of child pornography, two counts of distributing child pornography and one count of making available child pornography.
Crowe appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Monday and was released from custody on numerous conditions. His next court appearance is set for Oct. 21.
