A 36-year-old man is facing several weapons charges after he was stopped while riding his bike in the Pleasant Hill neighbourhood Monday night.
In a release, police say just before 11 p.m., officers stopped a man for riding his bike on the sidewalk and without a light in the 300 block of Avenue W South.
The man tried to give a false name to police and was subsequently arrested.
Further investigation found him to be in possession of a CO2 BB handgun, brass knuckles, bear spray, methamphetamine and cocaine. He also had a backpack in which police found a sawed-off rifle, another can of bear spray, multiple cellphones and $355 in cash.
The man is charged with five counts each of possession of a dangerous weapon and carrying a concealed weapon, and one count each of possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, tampering with a serial number, obstruction, and possession of methamphetamine and cocaine.
He was also arrested on an outstanding warrant.
