“We regretfully announce that President McCallum has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19),” said the political body that represents Métis people in Saskatchewan.
“It is under the advice of the Saskatchewan Health Authority that anyone who has been in close contact with the president in the past 14 days self-isolate, self-monitor for symptoms and get tested if they experience any symptoms.”
The Hawood Inn in Waskesiu Lake, Sask., will be temporarily closed for cleaning after the president of the Metis nation and his council stayed there.
Nancy Wood, owner of the Hawood Inn, said in a release that they felt it was necessary to sterilize the entire building after hearing about the positive cases.
“We have decided to close for a few days and we have hired a professional cleaning team to come to the hotel and sterilize the entire building,” Wood said in the release. ” The Saskatchewan Health Authority has advised us to deep clean the rooms that the client occupied, management then decided to deep clean all rooms and common areas.”
The hotel is expected to be closed until Wednesday.
