A Saskatoon senior and his wife have sent a letter of thanks to the Saskatoon Police Service after they were ‘frightened beyond description.’
The letter is contained in public correspondence in the Board of Police Commissioners agenda.
Fred Wesolowski said he and his wife Christine were awakened one morning recently, by the sounds of muffled voices, hammering and banging on the side door of their home.
“Based on the sound of muffled voices which my wife heard through a small open second-floor bathroom window, there were three individuals involved. The voices were of one female and two males,” wrote Wesolowski.
The banging continued for several minutes, then moved to the front door of the couple’s home, where it continued for another five minutes. The senior said he and his wife felt helpless and terrified.
“Not only are my wife and I senior citizens, but I am a quadriplegic incomplete due to an accident several years ago. As such, I was unable to deal with this situation,” he explained.
He believed the group was trying to get the couple to disarm their alarm system, which would allow them access into their home.
Two Saskatoon police officers arrived at the home a short time later and searched the property and immediate area.
“The canine member Constable Drew Dubnyk ( I apologize as the spelling may be inaccurate), remained and addressed my wife and my questions and concerns. Constable Dubnyk was very congenial, professional, respectful and put my wife and myself at ease,” continued Wesolowski.
He added that he and his wife were very appreciative of both officers’ help.
It’s not clear whether anyone connected to the incident at the home was found, or whether any arrests were made.
