A total of eight men are facing charges after two separate drug trafficking investigations by Saskatoon police in the past few days.
In a release, police say three search warrants were executed early Saturday morning after an investigation by the Drug Unit had officers observing activity consistent with drug trafficking at various locations in Saskatoon.
Shortly after 4 a.m., the Drug Unit, with the help of the Tactical Support Unit and the RCMP Emergency Response Team, executed warrants at three locations, two at separate hotel rooms in Stonebridge, and the third at an apartment in Hampton Village.
As a result, investigators seized more than $15,000 in cash and 1,998 grams (4.4 pounds) of methamphetamine. Police also seized 11 cellphones, three digital scales and other items commonly associated with drug trafficking.
Five men from B.C. are facing drug trafficking charges.
Four of the men are facing charges of trafficking methamphetamine, possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine and possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000.
A fifth man is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine and cocaine and possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000.
Then, on Monday, charges were laid against three men after a cocaine dial-a-dope investigation by the Drug Unit.
A search warrant was executed at an apartment in the University Heights area after members of the Drug Unit saw activity consistent with drug trafficking. The raid was conducted with the assistance of patrol and canine units at about 10:45 p.m.
Three men were taken into custody without incident, and police found 4.56 grams of fentanyl, 9.2 grams of methamphetamine, 24 grams of soft cocaine, 27.7 grams of hard cocaine, and 2.8 grams of psilocybin.
Police say the drugs were all packaged for distribution.
Investigators seized more than $9,000 in cash, a conducted energy weapon, six cellphones, two digital scales and three vehicles.
Three men ages 35, 43 and 57 are all charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl, and trafficking cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl.
They are also charged with possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000.
The 35-year-old man also faces two charges of possession of a dangerous weapon and possession of a prohibited weapon.
