A 30-year-old man is in custody following a weapons call Sunday afternoon on 8th Street East and Circle Drive East.
A patrol officer attempted to speak to the man, who was riding a bicycle on the sidewalk around 3:10 p.m.
He refused to stop, then was followed to the intersection of Clark Crescent and Stephenson Crescent. The suspect pulled out a handgun, pointing it several times at the officer before throwing it on the ground.
It was later recovered and found to be a CO2 airsoft pistol.
He continued on his bicycle before coming to a stop on the 100 block of Clark Crescent.
Police said he reached into his sweater, as if he was retrieving a weapon. After that, he was taken into custody without further incident.
The 30-year-old is now facing charges including assault of a police officer, obstruction, a bicycle bylaw ticket, along with numerous weapons and firearms charges.
