Environment Canada has ended a tornado warning that was in effect Thursday evening for the Yorkton, Melville and Esterhazy regions.
Just before 8 p.m., the weather service said radar had shown a severe thunderstorm in the area moving toward the southeast. The storm was capable of producing a tornado and large hail.
The tornado warning was lifted about 20 minutes later, but a severe thunderstorm warning remained in place for the area.
Severe thunderstorm watches remained in effect for a number of areas in the southern half of the province, including around Regina, Assiniboia, Gravelbourg, Coronach, Carlyle, Oxbow, Carnduff, Bienfait, Stoughton, Estevan, Weyburn, Radville, Milestone, Fort Qu’Appelle, Indian Head, Lumsden, Pilot Butte, Moosomin, Grenfell, Kipling and Wawota.
