No one was hurt after a blaze in the Riversdale neighbourhood on Saturday morning.
At around 7:39 a.m. on Aug. 22, the Saskatoon Fire Department received a call reporting a significant amount of smoke in the area. When crews arrived on the scene of 400 Avenue G South, they found a boarded-up home with smoke billowing out.
Three fire engines, one rescue unit, one aerial ladder truck, one fire investigation unit and one battalion chief were on the scene.
Fire crews had the fire under control before 8:00 a.m.
While searching the structure, firefighters located and removed a cat from the basement. It was left in the care of a neighbour until the Saskatoon Animal Control Agency could retrieve it. There was no one inside the structure at the time of the fire.
A fire investigator determined the blaze was deliberately set.
The damage has been estimated at around $150,000.
