A search is underway for a 23-year-old man who went missing at Bittern Lake on Saturday, according to a release from the RCMP.
The Montreal Lake RCMP says at about 3 p.m., it was reported that a boat carrying eight people was out on the lake when a woman was swept overboard as a wave crashed over the boat.
A 23-year-old man, who was also in the boat, jumped into the water after her. The woman resurfaced, but the man didn’t.
The boat began taking on water and the remaining passengers swam to shore safely.
A search by several groups was initiated immediately to try to find the man by boat and on land. The search has been ongoing since it was first reported.
The RCMP says the man has not yet been located.
Bittern Lake is located near the Montreal Lake Cree Nation in northern Saskatchewan.
