An 18-year-old man lost his life while he was tubing with friends on the Battle River south of Waseca on Saturday.
Maidstone RCMP was called at about 8:30 p.m., after reports that an 18-year-old Lashburn man had gone missing after a storm rolled in while he was tubing down the river with friends.
In a release, the RCMP say hundreds of local residents joined in to help emergency crews in the search for the young man and provided a plane, canoes, kayaks, horses, quads, side-by-sides, boats and search teams.
After two days and a night of searching, the missing man was found dead.
The RCMP say the community support during the incident was tremendous.
The release said there have been several calls about incidents on the rivers and lakes this season. The RCMP reminded the public to be safe on the water and wear proper safety devices.
