One new COVID-19 case reported in Sask. on Sunday

The provincial government is reporting just one new COVID-19 case in the province as of Sunday, located in the far north.

That case brings the province’s total confirmed to 778, of which 104 are considered active. No new recoveries were reported Sunday so that total stayed at 661.

Six people with COVID-19 are being cared for in Saskatchewan hospitals — three in the north, two in Saskatoon and one in the south.

Of the total cases, 165 contracted the virus through travel, 472 were community contacts including mass gatherings, and 103 people don’t have a known exposure. There are 38 cases still under investigation by public health.

The spread of the cases includes 323 people from the far north, 186 from the Saskatoon area, 114 from the north, 80 from the Regina area, 63 from the south and 12 from the central region.

As of Sunday, 64,800 tests for COVID-19 had been done in Saskatchewan. The province is reminding people that testing is available to anyone working outside the home or anyone who is returning to work as part of the reopening plan.
