A 44-year-old man is facing several charges after a series of incidents Wednesday morning.
Just after 8 a.m. police received a call that a woman had been stabbed in a parking lot in the 500 block of Avenue X South. The suspect then stole the van she had been an occupant in before fleeing. The victim was transported to hospital in stable condition.
Then, at around 8:30 a.m., police received another call that a man had assaulted another female and was attempting to enter her vehicle in the 200 block of Greenfield Crescent. The stolen van involved in the earlier assault was found abandoned on McKague Crescent. A canine track was successful in locating the suspect near the van. During the man’s arrest, officers found he was in possession of two knives.
The man is charged with aggravated assault, possession of dangerous weapon, theft of motor vehicle, robbery, mischief under $5000, obstruction, impersonation, breach of release order and breach of conditions.
He was also arrested on outstanding warrants.
