Three of Saskatchewan’s post-secondary institutions are getting upgrades through construction projects.
The Government of Saskatchewan announced Wednesday the projects will occur at the University of Regina, the University of Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Polytechnic in Moose Jaw.
The cost of the projects is $17 million, which is part of the province’s two-year, $7.5-billion capital stimulus plan.
The projects include $12 million in renovations to several buildings at Sask. Polytechnic’s campus in Moose Jaw, $3.1 million in upgrades to the field and lighting at the University of Saskatchewan’s Griffiths Stadium, and $2.5 million for a roof replacement at the University of Regina’s Centre for Kinesiology, Health and Sport.
Construction is expected to begin this year, with completion expected by the spring of 2022.
“As we reopen Saskatchewan and emerge from the pandemic, it is important to look to the future,” Advanced Education Minister Tina Beaudry-Mellor said in a media release.
“These projects increase our post-secondary capabilities and reinforce our commitment to students’ safety and well-being in both academic and athletic pursuits.”
