A 35-year-old Saskatoon man is facing charges of impaired driving and cocaine possession after an attempted traffic stop Friday night.
At about 11:15 p.m., a member of the Saskatoon Police Service’s Traffic Unit attempted to stop a Mercedes-Benz for a traffic infraction at Arlington Avenue and Eighth Street East.
The driver refused to stop and instead drove a short distance before hitting a fire hydrant and coming to a stop on the lawn of a home on Clark Crescent.
He than ran from the scene, but was found a few minutes later, with the assistance of the Air Support Unit, hiding in a nearby yard.
A search of the car resulted in officers finding alcohol and 12.8 grams of cocaine.
The man is now facing charges of impaired driving, exceeding .08 and possession of cocaine.
