A joint drug trafficking investigation between Saskatoon and Regina Police led to charges for a man and woman from British Columbia.
The Saskatoon Police Drug Unit began investigating a man earlier this year they believed was selling methamphetamine in the city.
Through the investigation, the man was seen travelling between Saskatoon and Regina to exchange items, believed to be drugs, according to a police release.
Police and the tactical support unit pulled over the suspected vehicle as it returned to Saskatoon on Wednesday.
A search turned up 4,951 grams, or 10.9 pounds of methamphetamine in five separate bags, $1,830 in cash, two smartphones and a passport.
A search at an Avenue C South apartment didn’t turn up any more evidence.
Saskatoon police charged a 21-year-old man from Burnaby, B.C. and a 21-year-old woman from Port Coquitlam, B.C. with trafficking methamphetamine, possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine and possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000 in connection.
Following the investigation in Saskatoon, Regina police arrested and charged three men in connection to the investigation.
On Thursday 20-year-old Nuno-Miguel Desousa from Burnaby, B.C, 41-year-old Shahid Aziz and Christopher Charles Lafonte, 43, both from Regina were arrested and face numerous charges for trafficking and possession.
