Just before 10 a.m. Tuesday, fire crews responded to a 911 call saying smoke was filling a house in the 100 block of Girgulis Crescent.
A woman and a boy had self-evacuated, but the family pets were still inside the home.
When fire crews arrived, smoke could be seen coming out of the house and heavy heat could be felt.
When firefighters were able to enter the home, they discovered a fire in a bedroom that extended into a bathroom. They were able to extinguish the fire quickly.
A search of the house resulted in the rescue of two cats and one reptile. None of the animals appeared to be in distress.
A fire investigator is working to identify a cause, and has not yet assessed the damage.
