Saskatoon police have charged a 32-year-old woman with arson with disregard for human life in connection to a blaze early Thursday morning in the Pleasant Hill neighbourhood.
Firefighters responded to a call about smoke filling a basement in the 1800 block of 20th Street West at 3:07 a.m.
Crews discovered a small fire inside the bathroom.
One man in the basement at the time was able to get out safely.
According to a media release from the fire department, the fire was incendiary and originated inside a plumbing appliance.
Through the ensuing investigation, Saskatoon police determined a resident lit the fire and arrested the 32-year-old woman.
Police do not believe that this fire is linked to other recent suspicious fires On Avenue P and Avenue F.
