The Saskatoon Police Service is changing how it does business during the COVID-19 outbreak.
In an effort to practice social distancing and reduce the number of visitors into police headquarters on 25th Street East Chief Troy Cooper announced new measures in a video posted to social media Tuesday afternoon.

“Effective tomorrow (Wednesday) our service centre will be closed to the public and instead we are encouraging the use of online reporting or calling our non-emergency number,” Cooper said.
Criminal records checks will only be available online with no vulnerable sector checks and the lost and found office will be by appointment only.
“Victim services offices will be closed and staff will only be available to clients by phone,” Cooper added.
The communications section will ask more screening questions and staff will receive precautionary equipment like face masks.
“I can assure you that we have incredible staff and enjoy strong community support,” Cooper said. “We understand these are uncertain times and we appreciate your (the communities) continued support as we work together to find solutions to emerging issues.”
