Five straight goals — including four in the third period — helped the Winnipeg Ice defeat the Regina Pats 6-2 in WHL action Wednesday at the Brandt Centre.
After Winnipeg’s Owen Pederson and Regina’s Jake Johnson traded goals in the first period, Nikita Sedov gave the Pats a 2-1 advantage at 17:18 of the second.
The lead didn’t last long, though, as Isaac Johnson of the Ice scored at 19:55 of the middle frame to tie the game.
Winnipeg then took over the third, getting goals from Carson Lambos (at 1:27), Cole Muir (5:08), Michal Teply (13:22) and Michael Milne (14:54).
Liam Hughes made 18 saves for the Ice, which improved to 38-24-1-0. Donovan Buskey stopped 31 shots for Regina (21-34-6-2).
The Pats are set to embark on a Manitoba road trip, with visits to the Brandon Wheat Kings on Friday and Winnipeg on Saturday.
