The CFL has a new innovation committee. While on the Green Zone Friday, commissioner Randy Ambrosie brought up a rule change that he thinks could garner some support.
And it’s a rule change I’ve long wanted to see the CFL adopt.

Yes, it’s that single point that the CFL awards on balls bouncing or flying through or out the side of the end zone on punts and field goals.
Some believe it’s at the heart of the CFL. I do not.
Ambrosie actually says the idea was floated by a fan on his Montreal stop on Randy’s Roadtrip, as he criss-crosses the country.
I was wondering if this fan has listened to my rant about this for about a decade.
The single point has a place, I feel. But only if the point is conceded by the opponent. A missed 18-yard field goal where the ball ends up in row 10 should not be awarded a point. A 48-yard kick, where the returner takes a knee. Sure, a point conceded because the returner had the chance to take it the other way for a touchdown.
A simple tweak to stop rewarding failure.
