Paramedics jumped into action Tuesday morning when a woman who was in labour in their ambulance couldn’t make it to Royal University Hospital in time for delivery.
The healthy baby girl was born at 7:04 a.m., by emergency delivery on University Bridge.
“It’s not often that we see babies delivered in the back of our ambulances so (Tuesday) was a pretty special day,” Medavie Health Services’ Troy Davies said in a media release.
Both mom and baby are healthy and doing well, the release said.
Paramedics re-certify in childbirth each year as part of their licences.
These two Paramedics had something to smile about after an emergency delivery of a healthy baby girl while on the University Bridge at 7:04am this morning. Congrats to KC and Mitchell on the special delivery! @IAFF3270 pic.twitter.com/t6NVpTLqdW
