The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) arrested Steven Joseph Lasas Wednesday following a brief investigation sparked by a tip from a concerned grandparent.
A grandparent contacted Saskatoon police on Jan. 16 to report suspicions their 10-year-old grandson was being lured online, according to a media release.
The ensuing investigation identified a suspect and his location in Saskatoon, which ICE calls his temporary residence.
ICE and Saskatoon police officers executed a search warrant on Wednesday and arrested Lasas and seized his mobile device.
Police charged the Loon Lake area man with possession of child pornography, making child pornography, luring a child to facilitate an offence and obtaining for consideration the sexual services of a person under 18.
Lasas is scheduled to appear in court at 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
