A.C. Leonard will continue to wear Green and White as he chases down opposing quarterbacks.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced Wednesday they have signed the American-born defensive end to a two-year contract extension, keeping Leonard with the club through 2021.
He could have become a free agent Feb. 11.
Leonard is entering his sixth CFL season and fourth with the Roughriders. Leonard entered the CFL as a receiver with the B.C. Lions.
Leonard signed with the Roughriders in 2016 and was moved to the defensive side of the ball by then-head coach and general manager Chris Jones. Leonard spent the 2018 season with the Ottawa Redblacks before rejoining Saskatchewan in 2019.
The 6-foot-2, 250-pounder was named an East Division all-star in 2018.
In 73 career CFL games, the 28-year-old Leonard has recorded 160 defensive tackles, 25 sacks and four forced fumbles. He recorded a career-high nine sacks with the Roughriders in 2019.
