Alicia Morin is somewhat of a cold-weather expert.
The Canada Post employee knows better than most how to handle the elements, walking over four hours a day outside in Saskatoon.
“The biggest factor is frozen fingers,” Morin told C95’s Rob Suski and Shauna Foster Wednesday morning.
She’s not one to complain. Facing bad weather is just part of the job and she’s learned how to stay warm even when the temperature dips below -30 C.
“When it’s cold like this, we just bundle up and keep moving … Lots of people ask us to go in to warm up. But when we go in to warm up we defrost, and then we’re wet.”
Canada Post has a cold weather protocol for its carriers. Morin says they are allowed to use their discretion and stop delivering if they find it too cold.
She said the best thing people can do to help them is clear their sidewalks and driveways, noting slips and falls are the biggest issues they face in winter.
