The Regina Pats came back from a 3-1 first period deficit to get back into the win column with a 5-4 shootout win over the Prince George Cougars.
It was the first win for the Pats since a Jan. 1 2-1 overtime win over the Prince Albert Raiders.
Regina goaltender Max Paddock made 31 saves in the win. Prince George goaltender Taylor Gauthier was the busier of the two, recording 41 saves in the loss.
Prince George right wing Filip Koffer scored the two first goals of the game. Prince George’s other two goals came from forward Brendan Boyle and forward Connor Bowie.
Regina’s four goals came from just two players with right wing Carson Denomie and left-winger Logan Nijhoff scoring a pair apiece. Right-winger Zack Smith scored the shootout winner.
The Pats improve to 4-3-0-1 since the Christmas break. Regina is back in action on Saturday on the road against the Tri-City Americans.
