So far in 2019 police received 8,271 online reports, which saved the police service approximately $330,840.
In a media release, police said that equals 6,203 hours of officers’ time.
The reports can be filed through the website or the SPS app for non-emergencies.
It includes identity theft of scams, theft under $5,000, damage to vehicles or property, lost property or theft under $5,000 and lost or stolen license plates.
The online system was launched in 2011 to reduce calls officers were dispatched to.
