Aquatic athletes were at Saskatoon's Shaw Centre on Saturday meeting young swimmers and divers.
Mike Babcock, who has won at every level possible, is out as coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
He becomes the latest in the long list of coaches who have been unsuccessful in helping the Leafs win their first Stanley Cup in five decades.
Pat Burns, Pat Quinn, Ron Wilson and Randy Carlyle all had believed that they could help Leaf teams win cups, and all failed.
The lure of winning a Stanley Cup in Toronto is different than in many other NHL markets.
Those in the Blues organization no doubt took a great deal of pride in helping that market to its first ever championship last June. St. Louis has a 50 year history in the NHL.
The year before, Capitals fans were able to celebrate a championship after a long wait.
However, there are many that believe Toronto is the centre of Canada’s universe, and of the hockey universe. To win a championship in Toronto in the modern era would put a head coach in rarefied air.
