Cody Fajardo is trying to give back a bit of the love he received after taking the field as a Saskatchewan Roughrider — that’s according to the Hospitals of Regina Foundation, where Fajardo is now volunteering as a Pediatric Ambassador.
The Californian will join 11-year-old Catharine Okalita in promoting healthcare funding initiatives for kids over the next year.
The organization said Fajardo had approached it to donate the proceeds of t-shirt sales by the local sports podcast “Piffles Podcast”, and in those conversations, he found he could become even more involved.
According to a news release from the foundation, Fajardo said he wanted to give back to the community that has shown him so much affection.
“I wanted to put the money where it could help the most people possible, so choosing Hospitals of Regina Foundation was a natural choice,” said Fajardo in the news release.
The president of the foundation said it greatly appreciates Fajardo volunteering.
“Cody’s enthusiasm will go a long way towards spotlighting the wonderful work that has been done, and will continue to be done, by the community in supporting and investing in the best pediatric care possible for children in southern Saskatchewan,” said Dino Sophocleous, President and CEO, Hospitals of Regina Foundation.
Couldn’t be more ecstatic to join the team. When God gives you a platform you just try not to disappoint! Looking forward to making a difference in pediatrics. https://t.co/k9ZQhhMoee
