The recent snowfall is creating slippery conditions on Saskatoon’s roadways.
Police said they have responded to 17 collisions since 6 a.m. Monday.
One crash resulted in a man being taken to hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The roughly 7 centimetres of snow triggered the city to declare a Snow Event.
Once declared, private contractors join the city’s fleet to clear priority roadways within 72 hours.
As Monday afternoon, the city reported crews had cleared 22nd Street, Idylwyld Drive, College Drive and 8th Street, and continued to make progress on Circle Drive.
Sanding and salting is also occurring on overpasses, bridges and busy intersections.
Drivers are asked to slow down and watch for blue and amber flashing lights that signal winter maintenance equipment is ahead.
