Tell us about yourself
I have a bachelor’s degree in sociology with a minor in political science. I am deeply involved in my community as a high school and minor football coach for 10 years, and a girls softball coach for seven. I have been chairman of the board of the Southeast Saskatchewan library for the last four years and member for the last six. I was a Kinsmen and now that I am over 45 I still help with several charity events that they support including selling Christmas trees. I am a single parent of a wonderful daughter who is attending the University of Regina.
What’s a little-known fact about you?
I don’t like to watch scary movies by myself!
Why should voters hire you?
I have a strong passion for my community and truly care about what happens here in southeast Saskatchewan for our future. I have a strong personality and will represent Souris-Moose Mountain with the truly Conservative values that are a part of our every-day life. I have experience in trucking, farming, the oilfield and banking, I am able to relate to and appreciate the problems that we have faced here since the downturn of our economy. The other reason that people should vote for me is that our party is the only party removing us from the Paris Accord, eliminating the carbon tax 100 per cent, eliminating capital gains tax and removing us from the UN Migration Compact.
Who should we call for a reference?
My mom.
What is your greatest strength? What is your greatest weakness?
My greatest strength is my conviction to this cause. My greatest weakness is I have a hard time saying no.
Where do you stand on:
Gun laws? Repeal C-71, revamp the gun laws, extend licences from five years to 10 years and focus on toughening jail terms for people who commit crimes with guns, and not harass legal gun owners.
The need for more pipelines? 100 per cent pro pipeline. We will use Article 92 of the Constitution to force pipelines across Canada. Getting our product to market is essential and pipelines are the safest way to do that.
Western alienation? We will restructure equalization programs and make them fair for all of Canada and remove interprovincial trade barriers.
China? What should our approach be with some of our markets blocked? We need to be more resilient with China, we are a large trading partner with them and we need to be stronger when dealing with them in negotiations. Also the government we will form will find more partners around the world to trade with so that when one country decides to make it difficult to trade we will have many others that will pick up the lost revenues.
Are we facing a climate change crisis? Is carbon tax the answer? Everyone knows that the Earth’s climate has changed forever. The government could not have prevented the ice age. There are things that can be done to help with climate change but the amount of change under the Paris Accord is minimal. With China building 20 new mega-mines a year for the next 20 years, there is no reason for Canada to decimate our small-town communities to try to reach an unattainable goal, that many of the countries of the world are not a part of including China and the United States.
It’s a day off and you can do anything you want. What would it be?
