Lucky!
That’s how some people described the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ latest win on Saturday night as they squeezed out a 27-25 win over the Montreal Alouettes.
Sure, there were plays that didn’t go the Alouettes’ way with a dropped deep pass at 18-18, then two plays later Boris Bede mishandled the snap and the Riders had the ball at the 19-yard line and took two plays to take a six-point lead.
Some say you make your own luck or you have to be good to be lucky and the Riders are just that. And saying they’re good is likely an understatement.
At 8-4 you’ve deserved that record. The Riders also deserve to be in the situation they find themselves in.
With six games to go, they’re a contender for first in the West and hold their own fate.
And how many would have predicted that after play three when Zach Collaros took a head shot? Be honest. No one!
The Riders have impressed and that has nothing to do with luck.
