Pop culture will be taking over Prairieland Park in Saskatoon on the weekend. The Saskatchewan Entertainment Expo will run Saturday and Sunday.
Craig Silliphant is the Creative Director at Rawlco and is involved in the event. He said the entertainment expo will feature all things movies, gaming, animation and cosplay.
“”Most of it is related to pop culture and entertainment like superheroes and comic books — Dr. Who, Star Trek, Star Wars, all those kinds of things.”
There will also be vendors and artists on hand offering up everything from food to jewelry.
One of the main attractions of the event, is the list of celebrities it brings in who people can interact with through autograph and photo sessions, and panel discussions.
“There are celebrity guests — Billy Dee Williams who played Lando Calrissian in Star Wars, Marina Sirtis from Star Trek, the Next Generation, and Michael Rooker from The Walking Dead and Guardians of the Galaxy and a bunch of others,” said Silliphant.
Williams told Rock 102 it means a lot to him that people are interested in his Star Wars character.
“Those particular movies made an impact in peoples lives. So I hear from some people that Lando Calrissian has become kind of an indelible, iconic figure for a lot of people.”
“I wanted to make a hero out of him, which I did,” said Williams.
He said the event is very family friendly, with a lot to do for the kids, including interacting with their favourite superheroes and playing with lego.
