Mike Edem of the Saskatchewan Roughriders told The Green Zone’s Warren Woods that the rematch of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Riders would be a brawl.
The players I’ve talked to this week tend to agree. And why wouldn’t it be?
The Riders and Bombers are playing for first place and things were getting nasty on Sunday in the Labour Day Classic.
Even Mike O’Shea jumped into the fray by lambasting Craig Dickenson over a play that the league says wasn’t a penalty.
But this season, the Riders have already learned that they can’t take the term ‘brawl’ literally, as L.J. McCray got an early shower a few weeks ago for throwing a punch.
Discipline will be a big part of the Banjo Bowl as the players who take dumb 15-yard penalties are going to cost their team big time. After two points separated the teams last time out, the margin of error is slim.
And it’s these little things that will determine who will host the West Final in November.
But for the fans … bring on the brawl.
