A family of four was reportedly attacked with bear spray on Tuesday evening in Saskatoon’s Pleasant Hill neighbourhood.
Saskatoon police said in a release officers were responding to reports of a fight near Avenue W South and 19th Street West when they found a 12-year-old boy being restrained by adults.
Police said the boy had gone into a home and deployed bear spray, hitting a 12-year-old girl, 35-year-old woman and 36-year-old man with the substance.
The release noted it’s possible a young toddler may have also been affected by the bear spray, but the family had left the scene before police arrived and they didn’t require treatment by Medavie Health Services.
Police said the suspect and victims didn’t know each other.
A 12-year-old boy was arrested on several charges, including; breach of probation, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.
The boy also had nine warrants out for his arrest related to several other offences.
He is expected in court on Tuesday morning.
This is Saskatoon’s fourth bear spray incident in two days.
