A dramatic police chase on a busy Saskatoon street was partly caught on video early Monday evening.
Saskatoon police confirmed to 650 CKOM they were engaged in a pursuit with a suspect vehicle during the rush hour, where nearly one dozen police cruisers raced across University Bridge and onto 8th Street near Clarence Avenue.
Part of the chase was caught on video by Chris Kaufman, who had just arrived in the city from out of town.
Few hours in #yxe and already caught up in a police chase with spike belt. Culprit dodged it and sped by before I got the camera out. 12 police officers in total 😬 pic.twitter.com/RoDyiyovVb

“We were stopped at a light and I saw the police officer come into the middle of the road to drop the spike belt, and then they ran back to their vehicle,” he told 650 CKOM.
“A second or two later the car went speeding through the intersection.”
Kaufman didn’t see if the vehicle hit the spike belt. Afterwards, the vehicle pulled a U-Turn, forcing police to drive over the concrete and grass medians to give chase.
He said four to six additional police cruisers passed him following the video.
Saskatoon police said they later called off the pursuit for safety reasons.
