There’s no reason to be a couch potato this weekend in Saskatoon, with several Rock 102 events to take in.
Friday evening you can take in Rock the River or head out to the Wyant Group Raceway for the stock car races.
“We’ve got Rock 102’s Rock the River all weekend long. We’ve got bands like Streetheart, Loverboy, Blue Oyster Cult and Quiet Riot, it’s crazy this weekend,” said Rock 102’s Mark Loshack.
On Saturday morning, there’s a poker rally at Alloy Collision Centre beginning at 10 a.m. where you could win a $1,500 travel voucher from Ixtapa Travel. Then, in the evening, there’s the SIR funny cars at the Saskatchewan International Raceway.
It all leads up to Rock 102 Show and Shine on Sunday.
“It’s the biggest outdoor car show in western Canada. We’re going to have people coming in from Alberta, Manitoba, the U.S. and up from Regina. All kinds of people showing up to see 1,000 classic cars in downtown Saskatoon,” said Loshak.
There’s also a pancake breakfast at 10 a.m. before the Rock 102 Show and Shine an hour later.
There will be some traffic restrictions downtown Sunday, and Saskatoon police are also asking for people to be patient on Saturday evening, as traffic on 8th St. is usually higher on Show and Shine weekend.
