Following an autopsy performed on Tuesday the death of a 68-year-old man has been ruled a homicide.
Saskatoon police discovered the body of Richard Fernuk while conducting a wellness check around 1:20 p.m. Saturday at a St Charles Avenue apartment.
In an update Tuesday, police revealed more information about the days leading up to Fernuk’s death.
Late Thursday night he called 911 after suffering chest pains from a preexisting heart condition, according to a media release.
He was examined at St Paul’s Hospital and voluntarily discharged around 3:45 a.m. Friday, police said.
Around that time he was caught on surveillance video leaving the hospital.
Now Saskatoon police are asking for help to piece together what happened between that moment on surveillance and when officers discovered his body the next day.
Anyone with information is asked to contact major crimes at 306-975-8300.
At this time police are not releasing his cause of death.
