It will be hard to ignore the sweet smells coming from Kiwanis Park this week.
Saskatoon’s annual summer time food festival, A Taste of Saskatchewan begins Tuesday with 31 restaurants serving up delicious dishes.
The gates open at 11 a.m. each day, and close at 10:30 p.m. every night except Tuesday and Sunday. Those evenings close at 9:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. respectively.
New to the event this year are Chianti’s Cafe & Restaurant; Dakota Dunes Casino; Living Sky Cafe; Red Lobster; and Yay Thai.
Food tokens are $2.50 each, with liquor tokens priced at $6 each.
While people are spoiling their taste buds, over 50 bands and performers will be providing free entertainment during the six days of the festival.
The city’s top chefs will also square off in a culinary challenge for the title of Top Chef Saskatchewan.
Similar to the television show Chopped, 12 chefs face off throughout the week with mystery boxes filled with Saskatchewan grown ingredients.
The winner moves on to the next round, with the final match-up on Sunday, July 21.
The full menu and preformance schedule for the festival are available online.
