RCMP shared the details of a tragic incident in a neighboring Prince Albert community Wednesday afternoon that left a 12-year-old boy and 13-year-old girl dead.
In a media release, RCMP said the children, who were cousins, were found unresponsive at a residence in what they described as a recreational community around 1:40 p.m.
Firefighters and EMS responded to the scene first, where paramedics discovered both children were deceased.
RCMP’s preliminary investigation shows the deaths were caused by carbon monoxide poisoning.
Foul play is not suspected.
None of the other people at the residence required medical treatment.
In the release, the RCMP said it would not release the children’s names out of respect for the family which had asked for privacy.
