Saskatoon’s Muslim community gathered Tuesday to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Abdullah Patel with the Islamic Association of Saskatchewan estimated there were between 8,000 and 10,000 people in attendance at a prayer service at Prairieland Park.
“It’s an amazing feeling. We have representatives of 70 to 80 nationalities. It’s just such a great moment to share this experience with everyone else,” he said.

The Eid al Fitr celebration marks the end of weeks of fasting from sunrise to sunset for Ramadan.
Patel said many attending Tuesday’s service would likely head back to their homes to share a traditional meal with friends and family and look back on the month.
“We did a lot of charity, a lot of prayers, a lot of community work and it’s a celebration of all that we’ve achieved,” he said.
